The Board is comprised of dedicated community leaders who are elected on the basis of their expertise and experience in a variety of areas. They set the strategic direction for the organization.
Board members are elected for 2-year terms and are eligible for re-election to one additional two-year term.
Karim Hamzaoui

Karim Hamzaoui, M. Eng

Karim Hamzaoui is the President of the Moroccan Business Club in Japan (MBC-J).

As Senior Project Manager working at Ubitus Inc. – a pioneer and world leading company in the Cloud Gaming industry, Hamzaoui has been managing the delivery operation of all the company’s projects and services in Japan since 2011. While working very closely with both clients and large corporations partners in Japan, as well as with Ubitus globally distributed development teams, Hamzaoui enjoys both the technical and the business challenges of the fast paced IT industry.

Prior to Ubitus Inc., Hamzaoui spent 5 years working at IBM Japan. Where he started his professional career as Software Engineer, before joining the Strategy Group of IBM Japan's Software Development Laboratory. Hamzaoui's professional experience, which combines software engineering, strategy planning, and technology projects management, allowed him broaden his world-class technical expertise as well as his competencies of business management in the Software industry.

Karim Hamzaoui holds a Master degree in Information Technology from the Nagoya University (Japan). And he speaks fluently in Arabic, English, French, and Japanese.
Mehdi Iraqi

Mehdi Iraqi, MBA

Mehdi Iraqi is a founder and the Vice President of the Moroccan Business Club in Japan (MBC-J). Mehdi is also the leader of MBC-J's team that manages all MBC-J's online activities and virtual (web) presence.

Outside MBC-J, Mehdi is the CEO of EM6 Holdings inc., an Internet solutions holding company based in Tokyo, Japan. Mehdi is also the co-founder and CEO of AMM Corporation, a Recruitment and Temporary Staffing agency.

Mehdi began his professional career at a Japanese trading company, specializing in trading, shipping, freight and distribution. In August 2005, he established EM6 Holdings inc, with it's primary objective to develop and operate pioneering online properties. EM6 Holdings portfolio currently includes several independent businesses in the web infrastructure, web development, advertising, marketing, and asset management.

Mehdi has an unparalleled business expertise from the perspectives of owner, manager and operator. Under Mehdi's leadership, EM6 Holdings has developed long-term relationships with reputable companies, government institutions and professional firms in the Asia Pacific region, the Middle East, as well as in Europe.

Mehdi received his MBA in 2001 in London (United Kingdom). He is also a graduate of Sup de Co Marrakech, affiliated to the École Supérieure de Commerce de Toulouse of France.

Mehdi speaks Arabic, English, French, and Japanese.
Anass Bemjebbour

Anass Benjebbour, PhD

Anass Benjebbour is the General Secretary of the Moroccan Business Club in Japan (MBC-J).

Anass Benjebbour obtained his Ph.D. and M.Sc. degrees in Telecommunications in 2004 and 2001, respectively, and his B.Sc. diploma degree in Electrical Engineering in 1999, all from Kyoto University, Japan. In 2004, he joined NTT DOCOMO, INC. Since 2010, he has been a leading member of its 5G team. His research activities and interests include novel system design concepts and radio access techniques for next generation mobile communication systems (5G).

Dr. Benjebbour served as 3GPP standardization delegation from DOCOMO, Japan delegation to ITU-R, secretary of the IEICE RCS conference from 2012 to 2014, associate editor for the IEICE Communications Magazine from 2010 to 2014, and associate editor for the IEICE Transactions on Communications from 2014 to 2018. He is an author or a coauthor of 100+ technical publications, 4 book chapters and is an inventor of 50+ patent applications. He received multiple awards from IEEE and IEICE. He is a senior member of IEEE and IEICE.

Dr. Benjebbour is passionate about family, food, traveling, and serving the community. He established the Foundation for Assistance of Moroccan Students (FAMS) in 2015 to support Moroccan students in Japan and he has been serving as its chairman since then. He is currently serving as general affairs and general secretary of Moroccan Business Club in Japan (MBC-J).

Amal Al Qadiri Iguider is the Treasurer of the Moroccan Business Club in Japan (MBC-J), she manages all MBC-J's financial matters.
Younes Hairej

Younes Hairej

  • Director, Innovation Center
Younes Hairej is the Director of the Innovation Center Working Unit at the Moroccan Business Club in Japan (MBC-J).

Outside MBC-J, Younes is a Vice President at Morgan Stanley developing and modeling risk and pricing engines for Fixed Income Trading desk.

He received his B.S from Nagoya University in Information Theory and Image Processing, and M.S from The University of Tokyo in Wireless Communication.
Prior to Morgan Stanley, Younes has worked as a core developer at Sony Ericsson.

He is an ardent traveler and a passionate golfer.
Abdelmoula Bekkali, Phd

Abdelmoula Bekkali, Phd

Dr. Abdelmoula Bekkali is the director of the Think Tank Working Unit at the Moroccan Business Club in Japan (MBC-J).

He has worked in various R&D capacities in academia and industry for more than 15 years. He has carried out national and international leading applied research in the area of communications engineering, together with demonstrated ability in obtaining competitive research funds (>1 Million USD). He had the chance to establish a solid Japanese/international network, including academic, industrial, and research institutions.

He is currently a Senior Researcher at KDDI Research, Inc, the R&D arm of KDDI Corporation, a world leading Japanese telecommunications and a Global Fortune 300 company. He is also adjunct professor at Graduate School of Engineering, Waseda University one of the most prestigious university in Japan.  Previously, he worked as Research fellow at the R&D department of the giant Japanese telecom operator NTT Corporation, Research Scientist at Qatar Mobility Innovation Center, Qatar, and Cooperate Researcher at Advanced Telecom Research Institute (ATR), Kyoto, Japan.

As a laureate of the Japanese Government scholarship, Dr. Bekkali received a M.Sc. and Ph.D. degree in communications engineering from Waseda University, Tokyo, Japan. He holds also a M.Eng degree from Ecole Mohamedia d'Ingenieurs (EMI) in Morocco.

Dr. Bekkali received the “2016 KDDI Excellent Research Award”, which is given to individuals who demonstrate outstanding research contributions that can be the basis for the KDDI future activities. He was awarded the “2009 Waseda University Ono Azusa memorial Academic Gold Medal”, which is the most prestigious award that can be conferred to students. He also received the “26th Telecom System Technology Award” from the Japanese Telecommunication Advancement Foundation (TAF), and other prestigious best journal/conference papers awards and recognition certificates.

Dr. Bekkali is a senior member of Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). He filed more than 10 patents and (co-) authored more than 70 research papers in peer-reviewed journals and conferences.

Yassine EL BADAOUI

Yassine EL BADAOUI, M. Eng.

  • Director, Community Programs
Yassine El Badaoui is the Director of the Community Programs Working Unit at the Moroccan Business Club in Japan (MBC-J). While taking over this responsibility at MBC-J, El Badaoui currently works at IBM Japan, in the Software Engineering Group. Holding the role of Mobile Developer & Associate Architect and the Global Business Services of IBM Japan.
Prior to joining IBM Japan, El Badaoui held many positions at Rakuten, Inc., a world-class leading Japanese electronic commerce and Internet company based in Tokyo, Japan. Based on his experience working at Rakuten's Global Operations Department, as Infrastructure Engineer, and also his experience working at other small companies prior to Rakuten Inc., El Badaoui was able to develop a broad and deep expertise in the development back-end and front-end web systems, as well as mobile development and desktop software technologies. He is also a proven expert in software internationalization and localization.
El Badaoui’s journey in Japan started in 2005 as a Monbukagakusho (Japan Ministry of Education) scholar. He took a one-year extensive Japanese language course at the Tokyo Japanese Language Center. Later he majored in Computer Science from the Yuge National College of Maritime Technology, Japan (YNMCT). In 2007 El Badaoui and his team was awarded the First Price in the "All Japan College of Technology Programming Contest" - Free Project Category. After graduating from YNMCT, El Badaoui entered the University of Electro-Communications (Tokyo), where he received his Bachelor and Master degrees, respectively in Computer Science and Network Engineering.
